CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) There is one organization in Clarksville-Montgomery County that is made up of many organizations with the mission to fight for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in our community: The United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region.
Ginna Holleman, Chief Executive Officer for the United Way, said there are three different components to their mission: giving, advocating, and volunteering.
Giving involves financial contributions to United Way to support local programs, advocating includes voices on important public policy issues, and volunteering means giving time and talents to help those in need.
“We also work to have a volunteer campaign that is equally as strong as the giving campaign connecting those who want to raise their hand with opportunities to serve. We want to create awareness that we’re not just fund-raisers, we are hand-raisers,” Holleman said.
The United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region serves Montgomery, Stewart and Houston Counties. With the theme “Live United” the organization works to find new solutions to old problems, mobilize the best resources and urges individuals to join the fight for the needs of the community.
United Way’s 2017-18 fundraising campaign is coming to an end and Holleman said they are hoping to achieve their goal of $1.1 million. “Most of that financial support comes from the generosity of our workplace partners who conduct employee giving campaigns within their workplace,” she said.
Holleman added that support also comes from many individual donors and the organization will soon begin the allocation process to distribute the funds to around 30 different nonprofit programs to support the most critical humanitarian needs in the community.
