The Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County has been serving the community’s citizen’s and their animal friends as a nonprofit organization for over 50 years.

Humane Society Executive Director Amy Shaver said the organization is 100 percent funded by grants, donations, and fundraising events. They receive all of their financial support independently.

One of the organiztion’s most important programs is the Low-Cost Spay-Neuter Clinic which began in August of 2017.

“We’ve done over 3,000 surgeries and now we average between 18-28 or so surgeries a day,” Shaver said.

The Humane Society also offers a pet food bank that serves about 600 low-income families and handles around 40,000 pounds of food and litter a year. The Humane Society is always in need of dry cat food, dog food, cat litter and any kind of pet supplies.

The organization boasts a pet retail store at its office where donated items are on sale to the public at a low price with money raised going to support the organization.

“Anything we can do to help people keep their animals in their homes, as long as we feel it’s a safe and healthy environment, then we’re going to certainly do that,” Shaver said.

The organization is planning its Wags & Wings Family Fun and Oktoberfest fundraising event, September 28 & 29 at the Clarksville Regional Airport, featuring helicopter rides, skydiving demonstrations, German music, kid’s play zone, a pet friendly play area ,and much more.
