Empty Bowls Clarksville has worked closely for many years with local nonprofit groups like Urban Ministries, Loaves & Fishes and The Food Initiative. Hundreds of people rely on local relief agencies and churches for a meal or donations of food every day.
Over the last ten years Empty Bowls has raised more than $200,000 to help organizations provide thousands of meals and food to struggling families and individuals. Throughout the year, volunteers from all walks of life hand paint bowls as symbols of giving and hope. The donated bowls are a reminder that there are empty bowls in the community and that everyone can do something to help feed a hungry neighbor.
The organization will host its 11th Annual Empty Bowls lunch and dinner on Tuesday, February 26 at eight area churches in Clarksville-Montgomery County. Trinity Episcopal, Grace Lutheran, and New Providence Methodist Churches will serve lunch while dinner will be served at Immaculate Conception Catholic, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, First Presbyterian, Sango United Methodist, and Salem United Methodist Churches.
At the Empty Bowls fundraiser you’ll enjoy a meal of hot soup, bread, desert and a drink. You will also be able to take home a unique hand-painted bowl. The bowls are provided by The Pottery Room, Horsefeathers Pottery & Art Studio and Shipley Pottery.
Ryan and Gretchen from Q108’s Ryan and Gretchen in the Morning along with other on-air personalities will paint bowls for the event on Feb. 11 at 4 p.m. at the Pottery Room (110 F Needmore Road).
Tickets for Empty Bowls are $15 and can be purchased at any of the host churches or Sango Pharmacy on Madison St. Tickets for Salem United Methodist Church can be picked up at the Medicine Shoppe on Highway 48. You can also purchase tickets online.
