CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee recently ended a summer of local day camps, spending the day Billy Dunlop Park on Friday, July 18.
This latest camp was one of three held in the Clarksville-Montgomery County area for girls in grades 1-12. All three camps were organized and led by local volunteers.
At the June 9-13 Rotary Park camp, girls learned about water, going in the creek and studying the animals and plants that live in the water and rely on it for survival. The annual Twilight Camp took place from June 23-27 at Dunbar Cave State Park, with the girls learning about insects while making bug boxes to catch fireflies nightly. The Billy Dunlop day camp focused on wildlife. Walden’s Puddle Wildlife Rehabilitation & Education Center brought in animals native to the area, talking about their role in promoting, protecting, and rehabilitating the community.
The Girl Scouts will soon host local interest nights for girls in Kindergarten through 12th grade and their families. The interest meetings will be held at local middle schools, and will provide information to those who wish to join the organization. Dates for the interest meetings will be announced through local media and open house nights at local elementary schools.
