Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee is now recruiting girls and volunteers in Montgomery and Stewart Counties.
With age-appropriate troop levels (kindergarten through 12th grade), every girl has the opportunity to be a Girl Scout or to be involved with the movement.
Since 1912, Girl Scouts have been positively impacting communities locally and around the world. Girl Scouting provides unique opportunities for girls that cultivate leadership through exciting activities. It also challenges them to take on new journeys. In Montgomery and Stewart Counties, the Girl Scout movement offers all girls the same opportunity to build courage, confidence and character.
Dozens of girls in the area who want to be in Girl Scouts have been unable to do so because of a lack of volunteers to serve as troop leaders. Girl Scout volunteers are mentors and role models who make a difference in the lives of girls in their troop by helping them develop qualities such as: leadership, strong values, social conscience and a conviction about their own potential and self-worth.
“It is so hard for me to have to tell girls who really want to be Girl Scouts that they cannot join right now because we do not have enough volunteers,” said Bethany Kelly, Membership Manager for Montgomery and Stewart Counties. “I would love to say yes to every girl and ensure that we are truly making a difference in both counties.”
