CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – According to the National Weather Service, the next few days are expected to be some of the hottest weather we’ve had so far this summer. Meteorologist Mark Rose said the heat will start to build up on Wednesday.
“We’ll have high temperatures in the low to mid 90’s everyday at least through Monday and possibly even beyond that. Some of those days you’ll see heat indices around 100, maybe even in the low 100’s as the humidity goes up” Rose said.
When it comes to being safe in the heat, Montgomery County Emergency Medical Services Director Jimmie Edwards recommends being sure to keep hydrated and doing everything you can to stay cool.
“Part of keeping cool may be wearing light weight, light colored and loose-fitting clothing. Stay indoors as much as possible and if you are planning events or work outside, plan those around the coolest part of the day, early in the morning or evening,” Edwards said.
Finally, Amy Shaver, Executive Director of the Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County reminded everyone not to forget about your pets in the heat.
“If it is too hot for us it is too hot for our animals. It is so important to make sure they have access to fresh cool water and shelter at all times. Keep walks short and be mindful of how hot the pavement is going to be and definitely do not leave them in a car for even five seconds,” Shaver said.
