CLARKSVILLE, Tenn – Christ Lutheran of Clarksville is hosting a German Christmas Market on December 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This is the second year in a row the church has hosted the market.

“Last year,” says Hunter Clouse, who initiated and directs the market, “I was overwhelmed with the turnout. We had close to 2,000 folks come to our little church in order to catch the Christmas spirit of the old country.”

Last year, there were 30 or so vendors selling homemade treasures – crafts of all sorts, cookies and European-style baked goods, grilled bratwurst and hot pretzels, and special ornaments for that one-of-a-kind Christmas tree.

“We sold out last year,” Clouse comments, “so we are doubling our size.” Christ Lutheran will have a big tent outside to accommodate twice as many vendors, including a blacksmith this year.

Also, they will be offering their own church-brewed beer based on an age-old tradition. The congregation is following their unique heritage of beer-making. The small church even boasts of having two Brew Meisters, one who is attending a local college for the brewing arts.

They will be offering three types of beer to taste, all free. And if so desired, all three will be in bottles. All they are asking is for a small donation.

The community is invited to come and see the sights, smell the good food, taste the love, and listen to the holiday cheer. Christ Lutheran Church is located at 2425 Kirkwood Rd. (exit 8). Call the church at 931-358-0888 for more information or visit their website.
