Georgia Mittler, age 94, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at her residence.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Neal Tarpley Parchman Funeral Home with Rev. Harriet Bryan officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Neal Tarpley Parchman Funeral Home.
Georgia entered this life on April 12, 1929, in Montgomery County, TN to the late Raymond and Mary (Thompson) Yarbrough. She retired from teaching after 30 years at the Clarksville Montgomery County School System where she impacted a multitude of lives and was known far and wide for her gift of teaching children to read. She was a member of the Clarksville Montgomery County Retired Teachers Association, as well as local, state, and national teaching associations. Georgia was a lifelong member of Antioch United Methodist Church and served in many roles there throughout the years. Aside from working with children, she loved to read, sew, craft and to go antiquing. Georgia had quite a green thumb and enjoyed raising a garden and tending to her plants and flowers.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Wayne; one brother, Bobby; and two sisters, Mary and Martha. Survivors include her son Rick (Dee) Mittler; daughters, Marilyn (Billy) Harper and Suzy (Mike) Hopkins; grandchildren, Mary Beth (Brandon) Jones, David (Kiara) Harper, Derek Hopkins, Lauren (Daniel) Brown, Ryan Hopkins; and great grandchildren, Claire and Katie Jones, Henry Brown, and Ellie Harper.
Pallbearers will be Billy Harper, David Harper, Mike Hopkins, Ryan Hopkins, Brandon Jones, and Daniel Brown.
