George Edward King, age 82, of Clarksville, passed away Friday, December 5, 2014 at Gateway Medical Center.
George was born April 13, 1932 in New London, CT, to the late Charles Sterling King and Marian Beyer King. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Roger King.
Mr. King was an X-ray Technician, having started the X-ray operations at Clarksville Memorial Hospital in 1955. George retired from Blanchfield Army Community Hospital after 30 years, and later worked for Dr. Cooper Beazley. He was a US Air Force veteran and a member of First Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 8, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry King, Dr. John David Laida, and Dr. Larry Riley officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home.
George is survived by his wife, Willie Wall King; three sons, Larry (Yewelline) King, Charles (Michelle) King, and William (Donna) King, all of Clarksville; one daughter, Susan (Don) Towe of Clarksville; one brother, Eugene (Jennifer) King of Ashland City, TN; one sister, Audrey King of Ashland City, TN; eight grandchildren, Dr. Chris Towe, Marian Towe, Charles B. King, Noah King, Hannah King, Morgan King, Laura King, and Aaron King; and three great-grandchildren, Addie King, Haddie King, and Eleanor Towe.
George’s grandchildren and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Neal Bateman Sunday School Class.
