CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Gateway Funeral Home & Cremation Center has announced the re-opening of the location at 335 Franklin St. under new ownership.

The location is owned by Chris Mayberry, majority owner of West Tennessee Funeral Associates, which owns and operates locations in Middle and West Tennessee. A native of Dickson County, with more than 25 years of experience in the funeral industry, Mayberry, a licensed funeral director, embalmer, and insurance agent, began his career in funeral service in 1984. He also owns nearby Dickson Funeral Home in Dickson; Boyd Funeral Home in Ashland City, and Luff-Bowen Funeral Homes in Waverly and McEwen.

“This location was the perfect fit for our business because of the location in connection with our other facilities,” Chris said. “We have the ability to provide funeral goods and services at a price that no one else in the area can provide because of our strength in numbers. We are a family owned group of funeral homes owned by funeral directors with local values and more than 150 years in combined funeral service experience.”

The new owner has completely renovated the facility. The interior has been re-carpeted, re-painted, and re-furnished. Gateway’s name was chosen in tribute to the city’s nickname of “Gateway to the New South.”

In addition to Mayberry, who will serve as the location’s manager, the funeral home staff will consist of Licensed Funeral Directors, Lois Sanders and Alan Desmond. Non-Licensed staff will consist of Tammy Cooley, administrative assistant, Ronald “Buddy” Hunt, assistant funeral director, and Mr. Lonnie Neal former owner and assistant funeral director. Mr. Neal added, “I’m very impressed by this organization and am proud to be a part of them.”
