CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Gateway Chamber Orchestra returns to the stage this month with a modern interpretation of The Nutcracker.
In its first live audience performance since February 2020, the GCO presents the Tchaikovsky favorite with a “Duke Ellington meets Tchaikovsky” twist, featuring an exclusive performance with Nashville Ballet guest artists.
“We are so excited to debut a new holiday tradition for our audience with a combination of video and live dance,” conductor Gregory Wolynec said. “Tchaikovsky’s classic score gets a big band twist that is sure to have your toes tapping.”
The performances will be Saturday, Dec. 11, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 12, at 3 p.m. at Austin Peay State University’s Mabry Concert Hall.
The optional Sugar Plum Party immediately follows the Sunday matinee performance, featuring sweet treats and family photos with the Sugar Plum Fairy. Separate Sugar Plum Party tickets are required, and are available for $10 with the matinee concert ticket purchase.
