CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville’s Gateway Chamber Orchestra (GCO) ended its season April 10 with a presentation of “Our City” by American composer Judd Greenstein.
Greenstein’s work, “Mannahatta”, incorporates text based on the poetry of Walt Whitman. Indie-rock vocalist DM Stith lent his unique vocal stylings to the performance.
A video montage created by visual artists Black and Jones continued the theme by paying homage to the people and personality of Clarksville. Recorded interviews with Clarksvillians of all walks of life were set to a Google street view visual presentation that highlighted the most popular areas of the city.
The concert was concluded with GCO’s performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 in E-flat Major “Eroica.”
