CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Funeral arrangements have been announced for Lilburn Evitts, who was hit by a car and killed Thursday on Providence Boulevard.
Lilburn Lee “Golf Ball” Evitts, 78, was born Jan. 4, 1942, to the late Virgel and Roxie Evitts in Russellville, Kentucky, according to his obituary, posted by Gateway Funeral Home. Lilburn was a walker who was known by his nickname “Golf Ball” because he always collected them, the obituary said.

He is survived by sons James Evitts, Jimmy Evitts, Johnny Evitts, Jackie Evitts, Jason Evitts, and Zachary Evitts; and daughters Barbara Short and Nikki Evitts. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, July 16, at 2 p.m. at Gateway Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. until the service.

The investigation
Clarksville Police are continuing their investigation into the hit-and-run wreck.
Evitts was on the 500 block of Providence Boulevard, between Oak Street and Plum Street, when he was hit by a vehicle that then left the scene, according to Clarksville Police Detective Mike Patterson.
Investigators are looking for a four-door car with damage to the passenger side front headlight area and upon further investigation believe the car has a body style very similar to a 2016, 2017, and 2018 Nissan Altima, with damage to the front passenger side headlight area.
