The visitation for 17-year-old Jayvon Quarles will be held on Saturday, August 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m at Hopkinsville High School. The funeral will begin on the same day at 1 p.m.

Quarles died on Thursday while moving a heavy piece of equipment, before football practice, known as a lineman chute when it fell and hit his head. His classmates went to school on Friday to mourn his loss and counselors will be on hand when they return to class on Tuesday.

The Hopkinsville High School Football team voted to play the season opener as scheduled Friday night. They considered cancelling the game after Quarles’ death.

The school’s student council set up a GoFundMe account to help with funeral costs.
