CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. CLARKSVILLENOW) – Over 75 volunteers gathered Monday, March 16, at New Providence Methodist Church to help stuff bags of food for children who are part of the FUEL Program.

The effort is in response to the closing of Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools in response to the global pandemic COVID-19.

Schools will be closed March 16 -20 with the following week, March 23-27 being spring break.

The FUEL Program, provides non-perishable, easy to store food items for young children who may rely on school breakfast and lunch for their primary meal each day. Non-perishable, nutritional food items are placed in the backpacks of youngsters on Friday before they leave school to help them throughout the weekend.  The children are chosen by the teachers and that information is passed on to the FUEL program.
