FORT CAMPBELL, Ky (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The boil water notice will continue into Wednesday, as Fort Campbell officials work to restore clean water levels.
Earlier this week is was determined the Fort Campbell water source had been contaminated.
“When it is restored one thing that people may notice is a slight chlorine taste to the water,” said Bob Jenkins director of the Public Affairs Office at Fort Campbell. “That’s not unusual especially considering all the testing that they’ve had to go through. But that taste should dissipate.”
The system is currently undergoing a flushing treatment. Results are not available until 24 hours after the treatment begins.
Child Development Centers and Fort Campbell Schools will re-open with normal hours of operation today. On September 24, Fort Campbell officials were forced to close the Child Development Centers and run the schools on a two-hour delay. This left some parents frustrated as several parents claim their children were without water until noon.
Command has apologized for any inconvenience but say they’re focused on ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all Soldiers, families, and the workforce.
