CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Historic Downtown Clarksville is gearing up for the 13th Annual “FROLIC ON FRANKLIN: A Celebration of the Arts” this Saturday, September 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Presented by the Roxy Regional Theatre, this free event will showcase the works of over two dozen artists, staged entertainment and art demonstrations – all along the 100 block of Franklin Street.
A variety of original fine art, as well as handmade crafts, will be on display including paintings and photography, jewelry, clay garden items, woodwork, purses and scarves, pottery, candles, jewelry, woven and knitted items, and seasonal gifts. Items will be for sale with prices ranging from $2 to $500.
“We are thrilled to have Frolic on Franklin back for its thirteenth year in Historic Downtown Clarksville,” says Executive Director Ryan Bowie. “Vendors are coming from all over the region to demonstrate, show and sell their wares during this daylong festival, with a variety of items for all ages and tastes. Join us as we celebrate the arts in our community!”
A crowd favorite is seeing, and often participating in, artists’ demonstrations. Several booths will offer the opportunity to learn techniques directly from the artists throughout the day. Pastries and coffee from Yada Yada Yada Deli will also be for sale, in addition to a bake sale with proceeds benefiting the Roxy Regional Theatre.
In addition to artist booths, a performance area located on the corner of Franklin and First Streets will feature live entertainment throughout the day, including the 101st Airborne Division Band (10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.), Music for Mercy (noon – 1 p.m.) and Stuart Bonnington (1:30 p.m. – 3 p.m).
The evening will culminate with GALA 36, a ticketed auction, dinner and official opening of the Roxy Regional Theatre’s 36th season, featuring selections from the Broadway hit ’60s musical Hairspray.
