CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Transit System (CTS) will offer free fares all day Friday, Nov. 29 for Black Friday shoppers and travelers.

CTS will join other public transportation providers across the region offering free rides. Commuter buses from Clarksville to Nashville will be included, as well as the transit system in downtown Nashville. The free rides go on all day on the Nashville Metropolitan Transit Authority and Regional Transportation Authority of Middle Tennessee buses and the Music City Star regional train.

“Each year, we budget for free fare days and we are happy to be able to offer this service along with other providers in the RTA system,” said CTS Director Jimmy Smith. “It’s a great opportunity to reward our loyal customers who ride with us every day. It’s also a great way to introduce CTS to people who haven’t tried our services yet.”

“We know that a lot of people will have that day off from work,” said Mayor Kim McMillan, “and it’s the first ‘official’ holiday shopping day. This is a great opportunity for people to be able to get around Clarksville, to Nashville and back during the day and even around Nashville as the Metro Transit Authority is also offering free rides on buses and the Music City Star train. Everyone can get where they need to go without having to worry about parking, traffic and wear and tear on their cars.”

Buses will operate on their regular schedule. For information on routes, visit www.clarksvilletransit.org or call (931) 553-2429. For information on RTA schedules, call Customer Care at (615) 862-5950 or visit www.nashvillemta.org or www.musicitystar.org.
