CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – In an effort to reduce the number of the animals most frequently taken in at Montgomery County Animal Control, Friends of the Shelter is now taking applications for free spay and neuter of cats and American pit bull terriers.

Clarksville-Montgomery County residents with an annual income of $25,000 or less or $35,000 or less for married couples can apply for a free surgery. Applicants must bring a valid government issued picture ID and proof of income and complete an application.

Accepted forms of proof of income include income tax forms, one month’s pay stubs, Social Security income, and LES. Military applicants must be active duty and live on the Tennessee side of Fort Campbell Army post.

All animals must be current on their rabies vaccination prior to surgery at the owner’s cost. Once accepted, participants will be contacted by phone to set up the time and date of their appointment.

Applications will be accepted at 120 Kraft Street Aug. 30 and 31 from 1-3 p.m. Additional dates and times will be set up if funding is still available after that weekend.
