CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville-Montgomery County School System and all children in Montgomery County under the age of 18 have the opportunity to eat free breakfast and lunch until December 2020.
CMCSS has begun offering free breakfast and lunch to all students under to a US Department of Agriculture waiver.
The USDA first extended waivers in March to districts across the country through December 2020 or until funds run out, according to Jessica Foreman-Goldberg, spokesperson for CMCSS.
No information is available beyond December 2020, but the service is open to all children 18 and younger in Montgomery County, she said.
Virtual students, younger children pickup
The first curbside pickup for virtual students was held Tuesday, Sept. 1, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the student’s home school. It is held on Monday or the first weekday of the school weeks, so following Labor Day weekend, pickup will be on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Click here for a map of your child’s home school with an “X” indicating the location on the campus. Monday’s meals will include all breakfast and lunches for each scheduled school day. Virtual meal pickup occurring one day a week will help reduce the time and travel required by virtual families.
Meals served curbside on Fridays, between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. will be breakfast and lunch for the weekend.
If families have students in multiple schools, they can pick up meals for all students at one location.
The student does not need to be present but the person picking up the meals will need to provide the child’s name.
CMCSS traditional students can take advantage of the weekend meal pickup on Fridays as well.
