Francis Lee “Pee Wee” Miller, age 70, of Clarksville, went to meet our Lord on Friday, July 3, 2015, at his home.
Francis was born December 8, 1944, in Daytona Beach, FL.
He is survived by his wife, Doreen Furman Miller; daughter, Tiffany (Chuck) Shackelford; two brothers, Charles (Pat) Miller of Anderson, SC and Ken A. (Lynne) Miller of South Daytona, FL; four grandchildren, Aiden Schmitz, Caroline Shackelford, Cameron Shackelford, and Dasney Shackelford; and three nieces, Patti (John) Claxton of Clarksville, Heather Miller, and Brooke Stone of Daytona Beach, FL.
Francis was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Tyre Jones; father, Carl Miller; two sisters, Betty Brown and Evelyn Hall; and one brother, Carl Reynolds.
Mr. Miller was a retired meat cutter from Winn-Dixie. He was a member of First Baptist Church of St. Bethlehem, in Clarksville.
Francis served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War, aboard the U.S.S. Currituck. Medals and awards received include the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Silver Star, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditary Medal (Korea), and the Navy Unit Commendation.
Memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8 at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Bro. Dean Anderson officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday, July 8 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Francis’ memory to help cure PSP; Foundation for PSP/CBD and Related Brain Diseases, 30 E. Padonia Road, Suite 201, Timonium, MD 21093.
In addition, the family wishes to give their sincere thanks and gratitude to Comfort Keepers, especially to one of their caregivers, Tara Kehoe, who was his caregiver since August 2014. She is a special person, who not only did her job with excellence, but really cared for Francis like family. Special thanks to AseraCare Hospice for helping to take care of him and educating us through his final hours.
