CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. – The Christian County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) responded to a two-vehicle crash Monday morning that sent four people to the hospital with multiple injuries.
Deputies report that a truck hauling a trailer was pulling off of Quisenberry Lane, across traffic onto Cadiz Rd. (Hwy 68/80) east bound, when a passenger car traveling westbound on Cadiz Rd. struck the trailer, which was partially in the travel portion of the roadway, according to a news release.
The passenger car sustained major damage and the occupants were injured.
The truck/ trailer was driven by Donald McReynolds, 53, of Hopkinsville, who was not injured in the accident.
The passenger car, a Nissan 4 door, was driven by 35-year-old Sheila A. Shepherd of Hopkinsville, who sustained multiple injuries and was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical center.
The three other passengers in the car were also injured and are listed as follows:
Passenger 1 (behind the driver): 14-year-old Taylor Ennis of Hopkinsville, sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
Passenger 2 (middle of the rear seat): 7-year-old Ajanae Locklear of Hopkinsville, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center
Passenger 3 (rear seat, passenger side): 16-year-old Katrian Ennis of Hopkinsville, sustained possible internal injuries and was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
Deputies report that the three passengers in the rear were not wearing seat belts, but the driver was.
Initial reports by the driver indicate that she was traveling around 65-70 mph and saw the trailer at the last minute, but didn’t have enough time to avoid it. The roadway was closed for a period of time to clean up the tobacco that spilled onto the roadway.
