CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – For his play at the plate during the week of April 4, Rossview High School utility player Brady Cooper is the Clarksville Now Player of the Week.
The Hawks began their week by shutting out Northeast High en route to a 12-0 win. Cooper was instrumental in the team’s victory. He displayed a consistent approach at the plate while showcasing his power throughout. Cooper finished the game 4 for 4, which included a double, home run, 5 RBI’s and 3 runs scored.
Cooper concluded the week with a batting average of .650 and an on-base percentage of .708 through six games.
“The goal is to be productive during each at-bat. That can mean a variety of things, such as getting on base anyway I can, moving runners and staying disciplined,” Cooper told Clarksville Now.
“I have more rhythm within myself in the batters box. I’ve made an effort to be more aggressive at the plate, which means (that) attacking the pitch earlier counts.”
The sophomore finished the week with four home runs, 13 RBI’s and 12 runs scored. Cooper tripled his home run total on the season in a week’s time. He was one of three players to have a multi homerun week for Rossview.
Batting totals
“Brady is not your prototypical leadoff hitter, especially at the high school level,” said Rossview head coach Parker Holman. “The biggest advantage he gives our offense in the leadoff spot is his understanding of the strike zone. He does not get himself out, which is a rarity in high school baseball. Brady also does a good job of touching first base for us, and fortunately he has guys behind him who have the ability to bring him home.”
