CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, located at 120 Duncan Street, will host a reenactment by the 5th Tennessee and book signing event Saturday, March 19.

Come see uniformed Civil War re-enactors from the 5th Tennessee who will provide living history and musket firing demonstrations from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Visitors can also tour the permanent exhibit which includes the 18-minute film, “Crossroads of Change 1861-1865.”

Author Michael Shoulders will read from and sign copies of “Crossing the Dead Line” from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The Civil War novel is about a thirteen year-old bugler during the Civil War named Stephen Gaston. Stephen was captured by Nathan Bedford Forrest and survived six months in an Alabama prison, only to be involved in the worst maritime disaster in U.S. history, the sinking of the Sultana. The book will be available for purchase at the event.
