Over 10,000 soldiers from 101st Airborne at attention for Division Review

FORT CAMPBELL, KY (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – More than 10,000 soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division marched across the Division Parade Field on Thursday in front of hundreds of family, friends, community leaders and veterans.

“At the end of this, for all of the Screaming Eagles on the field, I hope you agree with me that there is nothing that can replace an event like a Division Review to start working on the cohesion that we are going to so badly need to survive in future conflicts,” said Maj. Gen. J.P. McGee commander of the 101st Airborne Division and Fort Campbell.

McGee led the inspection of the troops, joined by two 101st veterans from WWII, Dan McBride and Vinny Speranza. Both McBride and Speranza served with the Screaming Eagles in Europe and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

This was the first Division Review since before COVID-19, said Col. Stephen Shrader, chief of staff for the 101st. “We are leading the charge for the Army because we are the highest vaccinated division in the Army,” he said.

“The Division Review today was a tremendous opportunity for the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) to get back out here and get back to our legacy of doing what we always do of connecting  with the community, connecting with our veterans,” Schrader said.
