FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Major General Gary Volesky shared a message on his Facebook page June 6 to commemorate the anniversary of D-Day.

d-day

“For the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), D-Day was our first Rendezvous with Destiny, when we banded together with Allied nations to fight and defeat an evil enemy. The ‪#‎ScreamingEagles‬ displayed bravery and courage beyond what history had seen up to that day. So today we honor those living and past who contributed to this momentous operation – the largest operation this world has ever seen.

It’s not lost on me that now, during our current Rendezvous with Destiny, we are serving with a Coalition comprised of many of the same nations who fought that fateful day 72 years ago: ‪#‎UnitedKingdom‬, ‪#‎Canada‬,‪#‎Netherlands‬, ‪#‎Australia‬, ‪#‎France‬, ‪#‎Norway‬ and ‪#‎NewZealand‬. It’s no coincidence that these nations have joined us to enable ‪#‎Iraq‬ to‪#‎defeatDaesh‬.
