The project is the world’s largest donation campaign of its kind which collects shoe boxes full of donations and sends them to children in need around the world.

The donated shoe boxes are filled with school supplies, hygiene items, toys and notes of encouragement. Boxes are labeled for whether it’s for a boy or a girl and Yarbrough said they were expecting to collect between 14,000 and 16,000 boxes for the holidays.

Staff Sergeant Cody Mackall, President of the BOSS program talked about the soldiers who were helping at the church. “I personally have been doing this since I was six so the opportunity was given to me a few weeks ago to do it and I thought it was an amazing opportunity so I branched out to all of the volunteers I have out here with me today. They were all super excited to come out and they’re getting their first experience with Operation Christmas Child,” said Mackall.
