FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Fire Department at Fort Campbell has been named the Department of the Army (Medium) Fire Department of the Year 2018.
The department will now move on to compete at the Department of Defense level against the Air Force, Marines, and Navy.
“I’m so proud of each and every one of you who bring the highest level of professionalism and character to the job every day,” Fire Chief Robert J. Coonce said. “Many of our customers will never understand the level of sacrifice you make, but I do, and for that I’m so honored to be a member of this great organization.”
Chief Coonce was also selected as the Army’s Fire Chief of the Year 2018.
“For those of us that work with Chief Coonce every day, this is not a surprise. His leadership, character, and values bring out the best in our organization. He is a humble leader that cares deeply about all of us and it’s an honor for me to call him Chief. Congratulations Chief Coonce on your well-deserved Fire Chief of the Year award!” Deputy Chief Kevin Falsetto said.
