Fort Campbell, KY. – Four-time NBA champion and former Vanderbilt, Tennessee standout, Will Perdue, visited Fort Campbell Wednesday, April 8 as part of the “Hoops for Troops” Commitment to Service Project.
The United Service Organizations (USO) Fort Campbell, NBA and Sony Computer Entertainment America “PlayStation” hosted the visit by Perdue. Perdue’s basketball career includes winning three championships with the Chicago Bulls and one with the San Antonio Spurs.
Perdue started off his visit at the Taylor Youth Center where he lead an NBA Cares Hoops for Troops basketball clinic for around 50 middle and high school students at Fort Campbell. After shooting hoops, he moved to USO Fort Campbell to help serve meals to soldiers and their families.
While at the USO he played a video game of basketball in the helicopter that makes its home inside the USO. He also played blockbuster PS4 titles with soldiers, like “NBA2K15” at the PlayStation “Greatness Awaits” 18-wheel tractor trailer in the USA parking lot.
Perdue talked about working with the youngsters and the soldiers as part of “Hoops for Troops”. “There actually were some kids today that had some decent skill sets and the troops did show me I have to work on my video skills,” said Perdue.

Working through the USO, the NBA and PlayStation will host six Hoops for Troops service projects at military bases around the country. The program promotes a shared commitment to service and is designed to provide a special and unique opportunity for service members and their families.
