FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) It was a fantastic spring day Thursday and a perfect day for family members, friends and comrades to welcome 116 soldiers home to Fort Campbell from deployment.
Assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team (BCT) of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), the “Strike” soldiers returned from a six-month deployment to Djibouti. The 2nd BCT is the 101st Airborne Division’s Regionally Aligned Force supporting U.S. Army events and exercises across the African continent.
The Commanding General of the 101st and Fort Campbell, Major General Brian Winski greeted the soldiers after they marched into Hangar 3 at Campbell Army Airfield.
“You’re going to remember today forever for it’s when you returned from a tough mission in Africa, where you accomplished that mission, exceeded every expectation. You took care of each other along the way, and each and every one of you that deployed is back here safe and sound. So welcome home,” Winski said.
