FORT CAMPBELL, Ky (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Fort Campbell MWR will host a YouthSpark Workshop, part of a Microsoft technology workshop. The event will be held Saturday, June 29 from 8:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. at the Taylor Youth Center. The event is open to all military dependents grades 6 – 12.
The first 150 children to register will get hands-on experience with cutting edge technology. They will receive mentorship from technology professionals as well as community leaders.
Children will explore coding, robotics and virtual reality within four workshops. Workshops include coding with Minecraft, Makerspace with MakeCode, Mixed Reality Exploration & Paint 3D and BBC Oceans Hacking STEM.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided for those participating in the workshop. YouthSpark is led by Microsoft’s Vice President of Military Affairs, retired Maj. Gen. Christopher Cortez.
YouthSpark workshops began in 2012 and were planned for major cities. Microsoft is in its second year of including military installations among its stops now named YouthSpark4MilKids.
