FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – Army Community Service (ACS) and Survivor Outreach Services (SOS) at Fort Campbell will host a National POW/MIA Recognition Day Luncheon Friday, September 16 at Sportsman’s Lodge.

The ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m.

National POW/MIA Recognition Day honors service members who were prisoners of war, those who are still missing in action and their families, and highlights the government’s continued commitment to bring all service members home.

Guest speaker for the event is Major Gen. Lt. Col. William A. Gauntt, United States Air Force retired. Gauntt was a reconnaissance pilot who flew missions over North Vietnam. On August 13, 1972, he was forced to eject and was taken as a Prisoner of War. After spending 227 days in captivity, Gauntt was released during Operation Homecoming, March 27, 1973. He continued to serve in the Air Force until his retirement in 1990.
