FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – Fort Campbell will hold a National POW/MIA Recognition Day Ceremony Friday, Sept. 18 at 4 p.m. at McAuliffe Hall Atrium.
Army Community Service (ACS) and Survivor Outreach Services (SOS) will organize the ceremony.
National POW/MIA Recognition Day honors service members who were prisoners of war, those who are still missing in action and their families, and highlights the government’s continued commitment to bring all service members home.
Major Gen. Gary Volesky, commander of the 101st Airborne Division and Fort Campbell will introduce guest speaker Cindy Stonebraker, daughter of Air Force Lt. Col. Kenneth Stonebraker, who went missing in 1968 while on a recon mission over North Vietnam.
After 40 years of keeping this to herself, she is now on a mission to educate and bring awareness to this issue, and seek answers with hopes to someday be able to bring him home.
