FORT CAMPBELL KY (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Thursday evening, two flights carrying around 430 2nd Brigade Combat Team soldiers arrived at Fort Campbell. The soldiers were coming home after a nine-month deployment to Europe.

Lt. Colonel Dennis Maher, Squadron Commander, said it felt great to be home. “Once we landed, obviously we get this sense of accomplishment that comes over us. I think that feeling will get even better once we get reunited with our families,” Maher said.

Deputy Commanding General for the 101st Airborne Division Brig. Gen. John Lubas thanked the soldiers for their hard work and sacrifices during the deployment. Lubas also thanked the family members gathered at the ceremony for their sacrifices over the last nine months, saying it couldn’t be done without the support of the families.

At the welcome home, a color uncasing ceremony was held for the 1st Squadron 75th Cavalry Regiment, which marked the completion of a successful deployment and their return to Fort Campbell.

It was a busy night at the Passenger Processing Center on the installation for Screaming Eagle soldiers. As the 2nd Brigade soldiers were returning to Fort Campbell, 290 soldiers with the 1st Brigade Combat Team were departing for their deployment to serve in Europe.
