FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – A Fort Campbell soldier is asking the public to vote for him as the Volunteer of the Year with the International Volunteer Headquarters (IVHQ) program.

Nolan Moore is a 2LT in 1-320th Field Artillery Regiment at Fort Campbell. He joined IVHQ in 2013 during his junior year in college and has participated in volunteer programs in Sri Lanka, Guatemala, and the Philippines.

He dedicated his time in these countries to teaching young children at schools and orphanages.

Moore was selected to be one of 12 finalists for Volunteer of the Year. If he gets the most votes, he will be able to travel to a country of his choosing for at least two weeks at no cost.

“I will be able to be a global ambassador for those in need and be a voice for the IVHQ program,” he said.

As of Thursday, Nov. 19, he is in second place with 1,475 votes.

Moore said he has dreamed of becoming a volunteer since 2nd grade.

“I love helping others feel wanted and reach goals that they have set forth for themselves. Moreover, what motivates me to volunteer is being able to know that I am able to affect families, dreams, and future generations. I want to be an example and mentor that people are able to look up to,” he said. “The feeling of knowing that I made someone’s day just by teaching them something new or making them laugh for a moment is extremely amazing.”

The voting deadline is Nov. 23 at noon. Visit Nolan Moore’s IVHQ page to learn more about him and to vote.
