FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – The Department of Defense announced the death of a Fort Campbell soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Sgt. Corey Garver, of Maine, died Sunday of injuries sustained when a roadside bomb exploded near his patrol in Paktiya Province in eastern Afghanistan.

Garver was assigned to 506th Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division. His mother lives in Louisiana, and his father and stepmother live in New Mexico.
