LYON COUNTY, Ky. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Crews have found the body of a Fort Campbell soldier who was reported missing while tubing at Kentucky Lake.
A statement from Lyon County Emergency Management says a search team and divers recovered his body Monday near mile marker 30 on the waterway.
On Tuesday, Fort Campbell officials identified the soldier as Pfc. Juwan Richardson, 20, of Gordon, Alabama. He was a petroleum supply specialist in 2nd Brigade Combat Team, “Strike”.
Pfc. Richardson joined the Army in 2016 and arrived at Fort Campbell in 2017. Decorations include National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Air Assault Badge.
“Pfc. Richardson was a dedicated and hard-working member of the Strike Brigade,” said Lt. Col. Matthew Adamczyk, Richardson’s battalion commander in 2BCT. “He was an integral member of the team, respected and loved by all his fellow Soldiers. His infectious positive attitude and tireless work ethic will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

The soldier was reported missing Friday while tubing behind a pontoon boat on Kentucky Lake near Lake City. A statement from Fort Campbell said the soldier was boating and swimming with friends when the accident occurred.
The Lyon County Emergency Management Agency led recovery efforts with help from several agencies including the U.S. Coast Guard, Fort Campbell, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife and several search and rescue teams from nearby counties.
Officials say crews worked almost nonstop through the weekend to find the soldier.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
