FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Authorities have charged a Fort Campbell soldier with murder in the death of a civilian woman on post.

According to Fort Campbell officials, Pfc. Jerome J. Forrest was charged with one count of murder under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, Article 118 on Jan. 11.

The charges are the result of a Dec. 17 incident at his Fort Campbell residence that resulted in the death of an adult civilian female.

An Article 32 preliminary hearing is pending date assignment.

Forrest, age 30, is currently in custody at the Montgomery County Jail in Clarksville. He is an infantryman assigned to Fort Campbell.

According to WKRN News 2, the woman who was killed is Forrest’s wife, Debbie Forrest.

She was found beaten to death inside her home in Fort Campbell on December 18, according to family members.

Forrest’s daughter, Kiara King, spoke with News 2 after her death.

“I looked at her as such an outstanding woman who could stand up for herself, someone who could defend herself,” King told News 2. “I never saw this coming, I never saw it coming.”
