CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A Fort Campbell sergeant has been recognized by the Clarksville Police Department for his assistance in the apprehension of a vehicle burglary suspect.

A news release states that Sgt. Jamil Moore came into contact with a subject walking in his neighborhood on Thistlewood Drive Feb. 28 around 11:20 p.m.

Sgt. Moore continued observing the suspect, then noticed him walking from car to car and trying to open doors. Moore dialed 911 and while waiting for officers to arrive, he saw the man successfully open a car door and called 911 again to update police.

When police arrived, they were able to locate the suspect behind an apartment building thanks to Sgt. Moore.

Police made contact with the suspect and discovered various items of the property behind the apartment buildings, which were identified as items stolen from several vehicles in the neighborhood.

The information Sgt. Moore provided also was used in the interview, which led to a confession by the suspect. Moore went even further by voluntarily responding to District 1 CI during late hours to complete a detailed statement and, without hesitation, sacrificed even more of his time by coming to court as a witness.

On March 11, Sgt. Moore was recognized by CPD for his actions. District 1 Commander Capt David Crockarell presented him with a Citizen Commendation Certificate and a CPD Coin.

“From the CPD, Thank you Sgt. Moore and Fort Campbell for your continued assistance in keeping the Clarksville community safe!” Officer Natalie Hall said.

CPD wants to remind the public to also lock vehicle doors when they are unattended.
