CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Fort Campbell senior guard Aidan Blaszkowski left it all on the floor against the Hopkinsville Tigers to earn Clarksville Now Player of the Week honors for the week of Jan. 30.
Fort Campbell didn’t have a lot of things go their way against Hopkinsville on Thursday, Feb. 2, but one bright spot was Blaszkowski who scored 45% of his team’s points.
The Falcons were blown out 93-40 by the Tigers, but Blaszkowski finished with 18 points and 4 rebounds.
“It was a team effort throughout the game,” said Blaszkowski. “The score doesn’t show it, but we were really playing well together as a team. We opened things up early on by sharing the ball, and that led us to not force too many shots in the process.”
Coaches corner
“Aiden is the captain of our team, so he’s usually the vocal point of the team’s atmosphere and mindset throughout this season,” said Fort Campbell Head Coach Jeffery Cherry. “He doesn’t have to necessarily lead us statistically, because of all the other things he brings to the floor.
“On the court, the best thing about him is his basketball IQ. The kid understands the game so well, and he can see things before they happen, keeps his players on the floor with him in good positions, taking advantage of mismatches.”
Fort Campbell (4-16) has their season continue on Monday, Feb. 13. They will travel to Butler County to take on the Bears. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
