CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Fort Campbell High running back Keshawn Dixon has been named Clarksville Now Player of the Week after rushing for over 200 yards on the ground last week.

Going into their Week 6 matchup, the Falcons sat at 2-3 and were coming off a blowout victory over Fort Knox. Fort Campbell picked up right where they left off when they faced Fulton County (0-7).

The Falcons took over the game right from the start thanks to their rushing attack and defense. Dixon paved the way after rushing the ball 11 times for 195 yards and 3 touchdowns in the first half.

When the final buzzer sounded, Fort Campbell won by a score of 53-6, and the sophomore running back finished with a total of 15 rushes for 248 yards and the 3 touchdowns he scored in the first two quarters. In addition, Dixon also had 9 tackles and 3.5 tackles for a loss on defense.

When asked about his performance Dixon said that he couldn’t have done without his team. He also said that he felt accomplished, and his play was an eye-opening experience.

On the season, he has 465 rushing yards, 3 touchdowns and he ranks third in total tackles at the 2A level, according to Fort Campbell head coach Henry Mitchell.

Coaches corner

Mitchell told Clarksville Now that Dixon is a great athlete and young man on and off the field. The head coach went on to say what makes his sophomore running back so special is his ability to see the field, and his patience at the line of scrimmage.

Mitchell expects Fort Campbell to rely on Dixon heavily during this second half of the season. The head coach said that his players earning back-to-back honors as Clarksville Now Player of the Week is a testament to their hard work and the success of the program, the school district and the Fort Campbell community.

The Falcons will host the Edmonson County Wildcats (1-5) during week seven of the high school football season. They will look to win their third straight game as their fans look on from the stands.
