Clarksville, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Rossview High School Hawks football team will be kicking off the 2016 season Saturday night with a banquet with a speaker that most Tennessee Titan fans will recall with ease. Former Titan Brad Hopkins, who spent 13 years in the National Football League as a Houston Oiler, then Tennessee Titan, will be speaking to the Rossview coaches, players, and parents. The banquet will take place at the First Baptist Church on Madison street at 5:30 pm.
President of the Rossview Hawks football booster club, Mike Harris, sees many beneficial things that come from events like this.
“We really wanted to give our players, parents, and coaches a chance to get together before the season kicks off.” Said Harris. “There are not a lot of opportunities for everyone to come together and get to know each other, so this will give us a chance to do just that along with a great speaker who a lot of these kids look up to.”
Obviously, this banquet will also serve as a fund raiser for the team. Operating a high school football program is very expensive. We are raising money to help with equipment, uniforms, and meals to feed the players throughout the season.” Said Harris. “Football programs are crucial to schools because of the structure and discipline it offers. If we can help 95 young men take these principles into the rest of their lives, then we feel like we’re doing something good”
Harris also commended the parental support this team has and says it has been outstanding.
The Rossview Hawks open up their 2016 season next week at East Nashville.
