CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Former Rossview High School baseball player and current Columbia State outfielder Jordan Akins has been named the Tennessee Community College Athletics Association Region 7 Player of the Week for the Week of March 2-8. Akins hit .647 at the plate with 11 hits, six for extra bases, eight runs batted in, and scoring seven times in a sweep of Jackson State.

“I am extremely grateful to be named Region 7 Player of the Week,” Akins said. “This means a lot, but it really just shows the hard work my team and I have put in. I’m just focused on continuing to work and helping our team in any way possible to win.”

Akins is having quite a freshman season so far this spring, batting .439 with a .554 OBP and a .773 slugging percentage. Akins has picked up 29 hits, 14 extra base hits, 24 RBIs, and four home runs in his first collegiate season.

Akins was a Clarksville Now All-Area selection as a senior at Rossview and helped lead the Hawks to their first state tournament since 2019.
