CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Former Kenwood football standout and Navy quarterback Malcolm Perry was drafted in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins on Saturday.
This past season, Perry helped lead Navy to a program-record 11 wins, including victories over Air Force and Army to win the coveted Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy.
In the 31-7 blowout win over the Black Knights, Perry ran wild for an Army-Navy game-record 304 yards.
As one of Navy’s four captains, Perry guided Navy to an eight-game improvement from the previous year (second-largest turnaround in FBS history) and a share of the American Athletic Conference West Division Title.
The Clarksville native stuffed the stat sheet during his senior campaign, rushing for a school-record and FBS-record 2,017 yards and 21 touchdowns for a quarterback. Perry also set a new mark for most 100-yard rushing games in a season with 11, posting 10 of them in consecutive games.
Perry passed for 1,084 yards, recorded seven touchdowns through the air and set a new record for passing efficiency (181.58) in his final year at the Naval Academy.
The 2019 AAC Offensive Player of the Year also showed his ability to return kickoffs and punts on special teams, racking up 5,320 career all-purpose yards.
Many front office members expect the versatile Perry to transition to a new position at the next level, such as wide receiver or running back.
