MONTGOMERY COUNNTY, Tenn. – A former Montgomery County Sheriff’s Corporal was taken into custody following a four count indictment from the February Montgomery County Grand Jury.
Michael David King is facing two counts of Statutory Rape by an Authority Figure and two counts of Aggravated Statutory Rape with bonds totaling $15,000.
The indictment stems from a complaint received by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office mid-January of potential criminal actions that occurred in 2014. Due to the nature of the allegations, King was put on administrative leave with pay.
During the course of the investigation and consultation with the District Attorney’s Office, evidence was found to be sufficient to seek indictment.
King was appointed as a patrol deputy February 14, 2005, promoted to Corporal December 14, 2012, and was terminated for conduct unbecoming on February 3, 2015.
Sheriff Fuson is deeply saddened by the course of events. “We are most concerned with meeting the needs of the victim during this process and ensuring that accountability is properly levied,” Fuson said. “I have to do what needs to be done to protect the integrity of every case that comes under my charge. This one will be no different.”
