CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A former kindergarten teacher for the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) was arrested Aug. 16 and charged with child abuse and neglect (if non-violent), according to the Montgomery County Booking Log. Her bond was set at $15,000.

Bonnie Conn formerly taught as a kindergarten teacher at St. Bethlehem Elementary School. CMCSS spokesperson Elise Shelton said earlier this month that Conn was hired in 2005. She was placed on alternative worksite on Feb. 10, 2017 and submitted her resignation on Feb. 16, 2017.

On Aug. 1, 2017, a Clarksville mother filed a lawsuit against Conn and the Board of Education alleging abuse against her 6-year-old autistic son. The lawsuit was filed in the United District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee.

In the suit, the mother claims Conn physically abused her son.

An arrest warrant for Conn was not available at the time of publication. It is unclear whether the child abuse charges are related to the alleged occurrences in the lawsuit.
