CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Wes Parsons, a Clarksville native and a former Clarksville High School pitcher, has made the Toronto Blue Jays opening day roster at the age of 31 years old.

“Absolutely thrilled for Wes and his family,” said CHS head baseball coach Brian Hetland. “He has fought to stay in the game and had a great year in Triple-A last summer. He continued to impress this spring and took advantage to make the Opening Day roster.”

Parsons graduated from Clarksville High in 2011, where he played under Hetland. Following his high school career, Parsons attended Jackson State Community College where he earned a 7-3 record with a 4.31 ERA and totaled 60 strikeouts. Following his freshman year, Parsons played for the Thunder Bay Bobcats in the Northwoods League, a summer league for all the top college prospects to showcase their talents.

After a great summer, Parsons signed as an undrafted free agent with the Atlanta Braves in 2013. Since then, Parsons has worked his way through the minors and now, is spending his third separate season with a major league team. In his career in the minors, he holds a 35-32 record, with an ERA of 3.48.
