Contributed letter from Darlene Austin:
This morning (Feb. 27), my husband Derrick and I wanted to donate to a family that lost their home this past week. My son and I were at Food Lion, purchasing food to donate to my co-worker’s brother, whose house, off Powell Road, burned down this past Wednesday (Feb. 24).
I asked the Food Lion cashier, Nathan, if I could leave the donated food items there for the family to pick up. He called his manager, Mr. Tracy Peterson, to his register and asked if the store could or would allow me to do that. Mr. Peterson asked me what happened.
To my surprise, not only did he allow me to leave the items, he said Food Lion would donate it! I was overwhelmed with joy. Clarksville is truly a community who cares and comes together when a member of the community is in crisis.
I truly believe in “teamwork makes the dream work.”
Look at God working and moving in our Clarksville community.
