CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) With a mission theme of Creating Second Chances, local nonprofit Flourishing Families hosted their 2nd Annual Philly Awards Saturday in Clarksville.

The Philly Awards, named after the term philanthropy, recognize those individuals in the community who support the organization and are continuously active in the community.

Flourishing Families supports homeless and low-income families and individuals in the community by providing services such as shelter, job placement, counseling, childcare, and financial advice. The organization was founded in 2010 in Clarksville by sisters Calendra Blanks and Canadra Jenkins.

5 Star Media Group and ClarksvilleNow.com’s own Lee Erwin was honored with the Communication Award.

Flourishing Families is looking to future growth with their Community Garden, plans for a house donated by the City of Clarksville for homeless and low income families and a community networking program for all local nonprofits.
