CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Florim USA recently received a “Silver” status from the Clarksville-Montgomery County (CMC) Green Certification Program for their ongoing efforts in mitigating the impact of its operations on the environment.

Launched in March 2011 as an additional effort to sustain its community’s resources, the Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification Program was put in place to help organizations learn and implement best practices in the area of environmental stewardship.

Previously “Bronze” level certified, Florim USA completed the CMC recertification process to achieve Silver certification, earning 170 out of a possible 200 points awarded for efforts in the categories of energy conservation, waste reduction, pollution prevention and community outreach.

To achieve its Silver certification, Florim USA initiated several improvements to already existing green practices that included installing new energy efficient windows and LED lighting, replacing toilets with low flow/flush toilets, recycling all cardboard, paper and glass waste, reducing plastic and paper use and by hosting educational energy and waste management awareness lunches for employees and neighboring businesses.

“Maintaining a high level of sustainability while producing a quality product has long been a major component of Florim’s manufacturing philosophy,” Don Haynes, environmental manager, Florim USA, said. “Reuse of water, utilization of innovative raw materials, and nearly complete internal scrap recycle is our operational norm.”
